PMMA Arkema V040 (France)

PMMA Arkema V040 (France)

PMMA Arkema V040 is heat‑resistant, high‑flow and wear‑resistant polymethyl methacrylate (acrylic / plexiglass). It features excellent optical performance, superior dimensional stability and mechanical properties.

Main Applications

Automotive industry: instrument panel lenses, outer rear‑combination taillight lenses, light‑guide components; suited for engine‑bay ambient condition with high heat‑resistance, UV‑resistance and wear‑resistance.

Optics & electronics: thick‑wall optical lenses, light‑guide plates, instrument cluster lenses; transparent parts / housings for electrical‑electronic devices.

Industry & building materials: extruded wear‑resistant sheets & profiles for building fences, decorative panels; insulating transparent housings and terminal sheaths for electrical components.

Other applications: consumer goods (beverage cups, stationery), medical (blood‑storage containers), electronic transparent keys.

Injection‑Molding Parameters

Process Item Recommendation Notes
Predrying Drying temperature 80‑90 ℃ Desiccant dryer required
  Drying time 2‑4 h Moisture<0.1%, prevent bubbles & silver‑streaks
Barrel setting Rear zone 185‑205 ℃ Processing window: melt onset ~160 ℃, thermal decomposition>270 ℃
Middle zone 220‑240 ℃ Strictly control residence time
  Front zone 210‑230 ℃
  Nozzle temperature 210‑230 ℃
  Melt temperature 210‑250 ℃
Mold temperature 35‑70 ℃ Higher temperature improves gloss & reduces internal stress, extends cycle time
Injection pressure 68.6‑88.2 MPa Set according to filling status and surface quality
Injection speed Medium High speed may trigger surface defects and internal stress
